I do have to disagree with you pretty staunchly on the first trailer. Not because of my feelings, but because it actually had the furthest reach of any trailer the franchise has had, currently with over 2 million views. Regardless of what we think individually, the first trailer had a good impact. The second trailer was weaker, I'll give you that.
But this whole "dime-a-dozen JRPG" narratuve has had me scratching my head for ages. I've looked at trailers for a ton of JRPGs and if the first trailer was what the average one looked like, I would be more into the genre :P
