There's a high def textures mod for doom 3 bfg edition, sadly though yes, I agree, there's no custom mod support. I still have original doom 3 physical retail, gog should have included extra game like Rune classic and Darksiders which they're included original edition.

I have both Doom 3 versions and never got the hate against the BFG edition. And with the VR mod + HD textures, it now is my favorite version (and one of my favorite VR games).
