There has only been 4 main iterations of the PS hardware, not enough evidence to suggest they have learned anything.

If I had a penny every time a company said one thing and changed their direction due to internal and external factors I would be a millionaire.  Nothing is written in stone just like Sony saying rumble not needed, will not charge for PSN and a host of other claims they have made where they have changed direction.  I also found something very interesting.  I tried to search on Sony statement that the PS4 is not their last generation and you know what, I found a lot of articles saying the opposite.  I even found a few with Sony President Yoshida being very vague if there will be a PS5 and these are recent articles.  There is an article where Yoshida says he doesn't even know if a PS5 is needed and it will be determined by developers if they require more power etc.  There is still a tossup as to what the PS5 may or may not be and there definitely isn't anything cut in stone on price, hardware or game support.  Some have predicted it to be 400 to 500 bones, just depends on how much of a curve Sony want over the PS4.

The message for the X1X and the PS4 Pro is that they are mid gen consoles with no exclusive, 4K gaming.  Do they each have features the other does not yes but where is the message really different.

As for VR, MS has made no statements that VR is exclusive to the X1X.  They only stated that the X1X was built for VR.  If you can find a statement where they make this claim I will concede this point but I could find none.

So they winning 3 of 4 generations, not doing that bad and recovering on the gen they were they made mistakes, correcting those mistakes are less relevant information (and ignoring it have been 23 years of them in the market) than wishfull thinking that they will make alot of repeated mistakes because "reasons"?

Sony said they wouldn't charge for PSN multiplay on PS3, so far they haven't. Owww so entretain me on how many times a company confirmed any speculation of new HW before official reveal? The most I saw is Shu and Layden saying they don't see the end of generations so soon.

Yes sure the PS5 release will depend on devs needing the power and new HW, and that is basically why I said to you Sony isn't in any rush, PS5 will release when there is enough of a jump or PS4 isn't able to increase SW sales. So thanks for confirming my point. And people are predicting 400 and 500 based on a machine that haven't been announced yet? Sure, why not predict it'll be 1000.

Most of the talk is Sony not wanting to confirm there will be or there won't be a PS5.

I read the first link and the guy writting the article sure is taking liberity with exclusive content since the person he interviewed did not say anything of the sort.  The good thing about that link is that it does have the one where they say the VR devices will be exclusive to the X1X so as stated I conced that point.  Even with that, I will be surprise if MS even come out with VR for the X1X if their last E3 comments is to be believed.

I read a lot of articles but one thing for sure, the ones you listed tell you only that their will be a PS5, what the PS5 will be who the heck knows because Sony made no comment on their direction.  If you go by Yoshida comments you still get this vague answer that says maybe or maybe not.  Then next you just get yeah we are coming out with something but not soon.  You are still projecting what you believe they will do but Sony has not commited to anything.  The fact that Sony has not commited to any one direction is that they are still in wait and see mode.

The big problem I see is that Sony probably never going back to a PS3 type of custom design.  So going with the latest AMD chip when they go into production how is this some next gen.  Do we today look at a current gen AMD card compared to the 3 year old one and think of it as next gen.  Unless Sony really plan on making their next CPU/GPU some custom job, not really seeing any next gen coming from them but instead just anothe iteration of a AMD GPU and CPU.  If Sony wants to make it so that only the PS5 or whatever they call it can only play their games on the new system that probably will be fine but 3rd party developers will probably just go the iteration approach and just port from the older systems.
