It's looking so far to be the best portable version of Skyrim out there, if not for the form factor alone. I think it was running on retali machines at least undocked (as far as I can recall from the DF video), and it also seems to be based off the Special Edition (better lighting, water, foliage etc.) but on lower settings, at least that's what I could gather from the previous footage and the new one. Here's a comparison on NeoGAF for reference; http://neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?s=aabc048091b0f29220fb384b2bdf0256&p=246823940&postcount=202 |
Yeah I'm sure its based on the special edition, as that is the latest build. I was trying to compare with xbox 360 legendary edition which was the last build that got and there are definite improvements but then when you watch the videos you see bits that look better on one and not the other. Trying to see the detail of distant objects.
When you watch the older comparison videos of Skyrim much of it looks the same across all the formats and I would say the enhancements of the build are more subtle but then at times you can see the dials turned back to keep the frame rate up. Skyrim can seriously slowdown when you are fighting dragons and there are many other events happening simultanously so that will be interesting to see. Maybe a dynamic resolution will help Switch with this to prevent the slowdown that you may have got with the ps3, 360 and on low end pc hardware. I'm running the latest build of the pc game on my humble Linx Vision gaming tablet but I've got all the dials down to minimum and often use a 800x600 resolution to keep the frame rate high at all times to make the game more playable. It looks pants compared to the xbox 360 version. I'm sure the game is tailored to the strength and weaknesses of each format. The special edition enhancements are hard to see sometimes especially if you are running on low end hardware where you may have disabled them anyway.
