Dark Cloud was never a relevant franchise to begin with. Dark Cloud was a modest succes, Dark Cloud 2 stayed under most people's radar. 15 years have gone by since. With development budgets increasing tenfold I don't think Dark Cloud 3 would be a logical investment.

Well, they've been re-released on PSN and done decently there. There's some demand for the series, but it would never be a big hitter. I don't think any standard JRPG will be a big hitter without a perfect storm or fresh IP.
