Halo 5 had a good campaign, well above your average FPS campaign as Puggsly said. Story just took a direction many fans didn't like.
Gears of War 4 had a strong single-player focus as well as multiplayer. Saying it's not at the same level as original trilogy I don't agree with at all. Must have something to do with nostalgia. I recently played the trilogy, Gears 4 has better pacing of the story and more intense action stuff. Only the new characters are lame compared to the old gang.
