Have you played Halo 5 and Gears 4? Because single player parts in those games seemed to be there just for the sake of it. It didn't look to me like they've really put too much effort in it. And if you look at multiplayer parts you can see the difference on which one they worked more.

I disagree.

Halo 5 didn't have an amazing campaign, could have benefitted by being longer, but the gameplay is great and it had good story telling. A well above average FPS that just left many wanting more.

Gears 4 was another Gears game, it was a top notch cover shooter and easy to recommend for those that want a split screen game.

A big reason I like those games as well is the gameplay actually fun versus being heavily narrative driven. I will replay Halo 5 and Gears 4 campaigns, but I rarely replay heavy story games.

It's downright silly to suggest that Halo 5 and Gears 4 aren't multiplayer focused games. By and large the concensus is that Halo 5 has easily the worst single player in the franchise. The design isn't great, the story is a mess, the pacing is weird. It certainly didn't have the care put into it that the other campaigns in the franchise have had. Gears 4 is much the same story. Sure, it's better than Judgement, but it's not on the same level as the origional trilogy by any stretch.

Not there's anything inherently wrong with multiplayer focused games, but it's left a huge hole in their lineup. Especially since so many of the major third party games are multiplayer focused. So rather than complimenting their third party lineup with exclusives, they're directly competing with them.
