In order for Shenmue to make profit they needed to sell more copies of the game than Dreamcasts sold. That game lost SEGA millions. Yeah, I guess that's how Konami felt about Metal Gear...only to my understanding Metal Gear was profitable. I guess I can understand why Sega wouldn't want to tocuh it as Suzuki would have probably went way over budget. And I think Yokoi left Nintendo on his own will. The Virtual Boy was a disaster but after the success that was the Gameboy, I think Nintendo's higher ups, yamauchi, etc. wouldn't have gotten rid of him that fast. But I digress, I just hope they improve the animations before launch.

Gunpei was shamed and basically put in a corner with nothing to do. Japan does that. They shame employees into a corner. He didn't have much choice but to quit.
