Dude, GRRM doesn't know how to finish his books. He is essentially letting D&D do it for him. But the issue is that D&D does not have the budget to cover every single character that GRRM has added to his books, which has required them to combine story lines. However, you have it all wrong with the rescue scene. Dany has literally never seen a white walker before, how in the world would she possibly think to have her dragons attack the Night King? And even if she thought to do so, chances are the Night King would be ready for her. It was obvious that he wasn't waiting for the ice to melt, but rather was waiting for the dragons to show up so he could claim one for his own(10 bucks says he uses the dragon to melt the wall). Her only goal was to rescue the magnificent 7, which she did (well 5/7). Now if you want to talk about stupid, let's talk about how Dany didn't flank Jamie's army. As for Arya and Sansa, that entire arc is completely in Arya's character. From her perspective, Sansa is trying to take the north from Jon, and the letter proved it in her mind. Is this story actually necessary? Probably not, but obviously this is gonna lead to LittleFinger getting killed (This show is getting incredibly predictable). |
Would it have been so hard for John to say "Dany, have the dragons concentrate the fire on those guys"? No, it would have taken less time than all of them climbing on back of the dragon, and would have killed almost all, but perhaps the Night Kings himself (if he had such protection from Dragon fire). It's really poor writing, and there is NO justification for it.
