Why do indies suck at making characters/mascots?

As someone who loved Persona 5 and has the Take your Heart Edition. Persona 5 has a shit story and some of the least memorable characters in the the series. So it's funny to see a post like this.

Certainly true as to some unmemorable characters, e.g Haru. I will disagree as to the story. Original? No. Plotholes? Yes. A bit ad-hoc? Yes. Well-executed and sticks to its theme? Yep.

Kicks the shit out of pretentious, tedious indie crap? Oh yes.

edit: In Futaba, Makoto, & Morgana, it also has some of the most memorable characters in the series, so there.
