But..  In that very same sentence they are acknowledging that it is both..

Besides, in every single Switch Ad we can see them advertising the portability factor of it first and foremost.

And finally,  I dont intend to start a fight but..  they DID say that is was not going to be a successor for the Wii U either:

"The NX is neither the successor to the Wii U nor to the 3DS", said Kimishima (as translated by NeoGAF user GSR).

But anyways, in the end it doesnt really matters that much.  The important thing now is that the machine is doing great and is shaping up to be able to outsell both of its predecessors.n

I think this proves my point nicely.  They said it's a succesor to neither because it's a succesor to both combined.
