Not seeing how the PS4 version has been more successful than the 3DS version given that the 3DS version has outsold it every week since launch.

Week 1

[3DS] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 07/29/17) – 1,148,888 (New)
[PS4] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 07/29/17) – 950,315 (New)

Week 2
[3DS] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 07/29/17) – 300,714 (1,456,601)
[PS4] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 07/29/17) – 200,798 ((1,151,113)

[3DS] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 07/29/17) – 116,615 (1,573,216)
[PS4] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Square Enix, 07/29/17) – 91,147 (1,242,260)

The 3DS version has sold over 300,000 more units than the PS4 version to date. The interview was given almost 2 weeks ago, but there was no point sales for the PS4 were ever stronger than for the 3ds version. Even if digital sales were higher for the PS4 version, they would have had to have been almost 150,000 than the 3DS digital sales in week 1 just to pull even, let alone ahead.

So SE is already saying it's more successful and you still doubt it? lol
As I have said it before on the other thread. 3DS underperform. SE expected it to sell more not to get toe to toe with the PS4 version because of the install base.
As you have said SE also expect it to perform better in the long run but that is yet to be seen. As of the moment PS4 version is stronger than 3DS version.

I don't know who this article/quote is directed towards.

But sayings "stonger" sales is a PR talk imo, or a shareholder morale boost talk. The PS4 version obviously cost more to make, no one woudl doubt or question that. Thus peopel would want to hear that the more expensive version is doing better than the cheap one. So they spin the talk to make it sound like PS4 version is doing better, when in fact it probably isn't.

Using the numbers provided above you, we have:

3DS: 1,566,217

PS4: 1,242,260

Now lets use revenue.

3DS price: 5,980 x 1,566,217 =  9,365,977,660

PS4 price: 8,980 x 1,242,260 = 11,155,494,800

Would you look at that. DQ11 has brought in more money from the PS4 version than the 3DS version. So one could say that its sales are stronger on the PS4 in a way. But what do you suppose each version of the game cost to make? I'm guessing the PS4 cost more to make than the difference between the two's revenue. (FYI, above revenue is with SE brining in 100% of the retail price, which they don't.)
