3DS was already dying last year, still is now. The numbers aren't good. That's why Nintendo replaced it with a new console. 

Sales pretty similar to 2015 too.  Fact is it's not dying and actually getting stronger now.  Your point is invalid.  Ps3 launching didn't prevent ps2 from selling strongly or software titles selling well.
