The bigger question is were people expecting the Switch in its first year to outsell the PS4 in its peak year. Most systems of any kind of success do not peak in their first 12 months. And when you add stock issues on top of that, the Switch beating the PS4 worldwide this year seems unlikely. Now this was less clear eight months ago because it wasn't immediately clear in February and January that the 2017 would be such a strong year for the PS4. And all of this is no shock, that's why we compare launches aligned.
