Texas is like many states these days where it consists of deep blue Democrat / leftist urban enclaves and proponents of big & centralized government amidst a red sea of the more suburban / rural set of the more conservative / small government mindset. Colorado is the same way... a bunch of transplants from the coastal states or mid-western cities that have already taxed their citizens to death, and have now moved on looking for a new host.
The Carolinas are trending this way as well, as more and more boomers from the northeastern states look to retire down there and take advantage of the low taxes and much more affordable home prices, while their millennial offspring start raising their own families there.
