It's a good enough sequel. Nintendo honestly didn't need to do much with Splatoon 2 considering the failure of the Wii U and its small reach with the original game. Because of that, the basic premise of Splatoon is going to be fresh and new for the majority of Switch owners and different enough to justify a purchase for those that enjoyed the first game.
