Yeah, I would be really happy if Splatoon 2 were Splatoon 1. It would be a fantastic new IP.
I just had lofty expectations of what the sequel would be, and when your expectations are sky-high, it just didn't do enough to live up to the tremendous hype. An iterative sequel took me by surprise....Splatoon was SO innovative and SO fresh that I guess I expected them to keep pushing the bar instead of settling into complacency.
