Unlike the other poor reboots, there was concerted effort to insult and denigrate anyone that dared to dislike Ghostbusters. Sony, the cast, and media in general painted anyone that didn't like the movie as an misogynistic, basement dwelling virgin. Heck your opening paragraph is perfect example of what people that dared to not like Ghostbusters had to deal with.

People criticizing Robocop and Total Recall didn't face the same vitriol. I know because I didn't like any of those movies. Only with Ghostbusters was not liking the movie met with venomous insults. Immature people with an agenda just could not comprehend that the general public just thought the movie was bad.

Robocop and Total Recall and basically all the recent reboots that have all sucked didn't face backlash because they didn't dare cast women in those roles.

The fact of the matter is the intention of the movie in a way was proven right this year with Wonder Woman ... big action adventure movies don't need to be a boys-only club as WW is kicking the crap out of Spider-Man and Guardians just fine. You just need a good script. Go figure.

Didn't some of the actresses end up receiving death threats? Really which side was being more immature here.

And I'm sure plenty of those who bashed Ghostbusters liked Wonder Woman just fine.  So, maybe you should quit with the insults while you're behind.

And I'm not sure how WW is kicking the crap out of the Guardians when the latter is still close to $70M ahead worldwide.  I'd say it's pretty impressive how big Marvel has made that franchise, considering it's a much lesser known IP than Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
