Even the old soviet union still traded with the world in many goods. You can have a communist government and still manufacture and export. The fact is China does it a lot better than the old Soviet Union but in principle it is the same just China has more open borders. A communist or democratic government can operate a capitalistic economy. China is also building up its military as it's wealth increases. Considering the human rights atrocities in China and the exploitive way they operate in parts of Africa I don't believe their rise in power is safe. It would be better if countries outside China were competing more with China. That could be other parts of Asia, South America, India and Africa. That would be more stabilising for the world at least politically. These things do change. Japan took a large amount of industry from the US and Europe but now they have fallen back considerably in only a few decades. There was a time when pretty much most electronics were coming out of Japan and now its pretty rare to find 'Made in Japan' on such products. Things can change especially now that China is becoming less competitive than many other economies. |
I think there will be a power shift from Europe and North America to Asia. These things change. The west has had it's time for 100s of years now they'll get the back burner sooner or later and I think its sooner rather than later
Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also
