I had rather hoped Kotaku would finally go the way of the dodo...
That's a terribly researched article. ARMS may end up not catching on long-term, but it's definitely too early to determine that for the following reasons:
1. We don't have proper sales info for the past month
2. The enormous distraction that is Splatoon 2 will undoubtedly take the spotlight off of ARMS for some time
3. Splatoon also took some time to become a real sensation, except it did that in the midst of a software drought.
If Nintendo keeps supporting ARMS with content updates and including it in its advertisements/show floor competitions, then it can certainly prove to have "legs" in the coming year.
