Now with the Switch being a hybrid there is no point contesting this. Wii U did not sell badly in america and japan because Sony, it was because marketing and stupid decisions. If we are talking potential, Nintendo is the only company capable of owning an entire region because Xbox(yes even the 1) sells well across the pondIt doesnt matter if you clarify home console because A ) home consoles matter little to Japan and B) Switch is both. 

 

Plus in america the potential was alwaays for N and S to be head to head. America is the market where all 3 are potentially equal in primary value.
