One of the worst movies I've ever seen. And I say that as a big McCarthy, Wig, and McKinnon fan. Just a terribly unfunny script with poor characters and cringe worthy cameos. Somehow there is a GB film worse than GB2.

I really don't get the hate that GB2 gets... while it's not as good as the original, it is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be.  Watch both GB1&2 back to back sometime... GB2 is almost beat for beat the same as GB1 in terms of overall plot, and all the main characters are basically the same as they were in the original.

I think people were expecting this massive summer action flick with state of the art special effects when GB2 came out, not realizing that GB was never that type of film... you only really see them battle two ghosts in the original,  Slimer at the hotel and Stay Puft / Zool at the end of the film.  Same thing in the sequel... they fight the two ghosts in the courtroom halfway through, and then the anti-climactic showdown with Vigo at the end, which was pretty lame compared to the finale of the original.  In between there's some plot development and witty dialogue, the GB get arrested / get committed, and then get released by the mayor for the big showdown at the end, same as the original.

GB1 > GB2 > GB She-boot.

Definitely agree with this.  The only things I think that are negatives for GB2 is how some of the characters seemed to have arcs in between the filmsand the final battle (except for the Statue of Liberty part) could have used a little more punch to it.  For the former, I'm speaking more about how Janine no longer seemed interested in Egon, even though she was during the first film, and instead is into Louis.  Peter and Dana are no longer a thing.  Instead she got a new man, had his kid, and broke up with him before the second film starts.  Peter has also left the group to start some shitty psychic show, while the other guys are relegated to doing kids' birthday parties for money.  But, it still has the same humor and charm as the 1st one.

It's not surprising that most of the people who enjoyed the 2016 Ghostbusters she-boot weren't big fans of the original, which is why the most passionate criticisms of the film were from long time fans who grew up with the original.

Other than a few online clips I have not seen the film in its entirety (the most I've seen of it is the recent "Everything Wrong With.." upload on Youtube).

But from what I've seen and based on the majority of reviews that didn't have an agenda , the movie is your typical Adam Sandler-type lowbrow summer comedy, only with women in the lead roles and the Ghostbusters IP slapped on to sell extra tickets to certain segments of the population. Take away the women and the GB license, and you basically have Pixels 2, which certainly wasn't the worst movie ever but was critically panned for its bland script and characters and blatant product placement (another hallmark of Sony's films).

Agree with this, too.  It didn't help that the stars and director of the film decided to play the SJW card with the film, too.  Insulting those with legit criticisms, lumping them in with the few who were just hating because it was women, and calling them basement dwellers who never get laid.  Then, many in the media decided to join them, too.  Even writing articles saying how the originals weren't as good as you remembered them.  It was all a circus.  I'm just glad it flopped and we won't get the endless GB sequels and spin-offs they had planned.  Even created a GB specific studio to make them before they saw the returns on this film.
