It's a completely different style of humor.
Ghostbusters has this dry style, to this day I still laugh at Murray's delivery.
Dr. Raymond Stantz: Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here.
Walter Peck: They caused an explosion!
Mayor: Is this true?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yes it's true.
Dr. Peter Venkman: This man has no dick.
The reboot had none of that style. It felt like they went for a younger audience with Thor being not just dim, but cartoonishly stupid. I didn't laugh once, but I can't argue if you did.
For reference I think the British have the best style of humor. I consider "Hot Fuzz" to be an absolute masterpiece in comedy and even after 20+ viewing I still marvel at how immaculated crafted it is. Yet, I know people who shrug at it as poor to okay.
