Or just cos there's little value in having one if you're only really using it to urinate. Certainly less value than the ability to hear or see.

Then why just use it or at least try to?

Been trying for years, it ain't happening.

Well, about all I'd be losing is the ability to masturbate, and that to me sounds like a lesser sacrifice than losing the ability to see and hear, which as a fan of movies and video games would massively impact on my ability to enjoy my passions, not to mention having a substantial negative effect on my quality of life and ability to function in society.

Even if you use it just for masturbation it's still a loss, and it's not like you wouldn't use it for sex in the future anyways (hey, sex can be awesome <3). Besides, this is the kind of stuff that affects your psyche. It's like people that switch genders... it takes time and a lot of therapy to get used to it.

As a musician myself (playing the piano since 3/4 years old), I'd gladly lose hearing over losing sight or my penis.

Well masturbation is like 5 minutes out of my day that I could do without, and sex isn't really an option, while hearing and sight is used 24/7.
