Probably is a transphobic move, but I still think it's partially justified based on the fact that they would almost certainly need special allowances made for them that other groups don't get.

Not allowing them in service only saves the US $8 million a year. That's absolutely nothing especially when it cost, Melania Trump, $9 mil a month to have her stay in NYC. Don't even wanna know how much his golf trips have racked up
