In my opinion it's a distraction....
Microsoft is trying to influence the console realm to have synergy to PC. They better keep their vision to themselves because they've done little for gaming besides bringing the PC model to the console market. It's smart for them... especially as the younger generations grow up not caring about console identity and exclusives. They were never good at that anyway so all they have to do is ride it out.
Backwards compatiiity should be a common thing, but traditional console devs like Sony and Nintendo see too much profit in rereleases. They have the catalogue to pull it off. Micorsoft does not.
if Sony and nintnedo did backwards compatibility the Xbox ones bc would pale in comparison. Their generational exclusive library was never that great save for acquisitions. If Microsoft cannot manage to make their time in the console realm be meaningful they should do to the Xbox one what they did with the zune.
