I didn't include nu metal, as many people don't consider it to be metal, so I just avoided that can of worms altogether.

I don't know, I'd just include it and screw the purists. I'd say the some of the albums from the likes of Deftones, Korn, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Godsmack, Disturbed, System of a Down and Linkin Park are just as deserving of being included here (arguably more so considering a lot of classic metal tracks would be considered heavy rock by today's standards).
