I think there's still plenty of people who will pay full price on day 1 for PC games. At the very least recent stats for Ubisoft games should show that. The PC playerbase wouldn't drop off so significantly if people were waiting for sales or whatnot. It would instead start low and then gradually increase as more people bought it on sale. Besides, Nintendo games already compete with other games, people only have so much time and money to spend afterall and them being on a different platform isn't going to change that. So if Nintendo can keep their prices high now, why couldn't they on PC too? It's not as if people would suddenly start thinking "oh those games aren't worth as much anymore", and with Nintendo likely remaining reluctant to put their games on sale even those that did want to wait may give in sooner or later and just buy it anyways. |
GTA V has been at full prize for a long time on steam. Even after all these years I have never seen it below $30 on steam sales. It still one of the best selling games monthly regardless of price. Of course, that Nintendo could do that same feat is another matter. (RotTR is also still 60 bucks O.O)
