The real issue here is the fact that the app doesn't work in the background or when the phone is locked. Like, wtf Nintendo? I guess I'll just stick to Skype/Discord. At least then I can put the phone to sleep and still talk to people.

And I don't think that connector device you need to connect the Switch to the phone and headset does either?
Even if it does, wireless devices need to be charged as well. Having all your devices perfectly charged and ready for every session is something that doesn't happen irl.
