Nope. Playing illegal copies or cheating online COULD get you a ban. But as long as you stay clean, you're totally safe. 

So what legal homebrew is that attractive that makes up for the inconveniences of an old firmware?

Can you even connect to PSN to download your PS+ games, download patches, use cloud saving, use cross-save between PS4 + Vita, buy Vita/PSP/Ps1 games?
