He hit the nail on the head with how major websites basically get random writers they employ to review each game so you don't get any kind of consistency.   All major sites that count heavily towards the metacritc score should be required to have multiple people play and review a game like EGM used to do.

Famitsu still does that. It's not like any of these reviews are bad or anything. They just seem inconsistent, which calls their quality into question. If it's a 7/10, then the person reviewing it should know how to word it to make that clear in the language. This is why game journalists are the bottom rung of that particular ladder. No real skill required.
