If we're excluding limited editions or games that came with hardware bundles like Guitar Hero / Rock Band, the most expensive games I ever bought brand-new were a couple of 3rd party N64 titles shortly after launch. Star Wars Shadows of the Empire was $70 as was Cruis'n USA, compared to the $59.99 MSRP for 1st party titles like Mario 64, Pilotwings and Waverace 64. I also remember the Mortal Kombat Trilogy retailing for $75 at many stores at the time.
Back in the early-mid 90s it was common for videogame prices to be all over the map for 16-bit and early 32/64-bit titles. Check out this Toys R Us flyer of SNES games from late '93...

Yes, that's $70 a pop for both the original Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II Turbo. Just $20 cheaper than the core SNES.
