Other M's story was bad, but its gameplay was even worse. I can blame both the director AND Team Ninja for the train wreck that was Other M. Sakamoto is also just one guy, he's not representative for all of Nintendo. As for Federation Force, I doubt Nintendo had much to say about that game. They didn't even bother marketing it, they knew it was crap. Definitely the developer's fault as nothing about that game was even remotely good. Next Level Games has some very mediocre or even terrible art designers. All their games have terrible character designs, besides Punch-Out for Wii, but only because it didn't stray far from the original games on the NES and SNES.

The Pikmin shorts were fun to watch. I won't be surprised if Nintendo announces some new anime shows based on their IPs in the near future. They've definitely shown more interest in broadening their IPs (amusement parks, mobile games, etc.).

I actually liked the gameplay, but didn't like the lack of exploration. I don't blame only one guy for the game, but Nintendo was responsible for what happened with Other M, as they are responsible for EVERY game using their license.

Now I talked about Sakamoto because he wrote the game, and my point at the beginning was that Nintendo can't make a good metroid TV show, and that Other M is good example that they don't know how to write a more complex story in the Metroid universe.

I did saw a change in how they handle their IP in recent years, but do I trust them at that point to make a good Metroid TV show? No, I don't. It's my opinion, I might be wrong, but I know enough to not be optimistic.

Sakamoto also wrote and directed Fusion and I really like its story and atmosphere. So nope, I'm not convinced that Nintendo can't make a good Metroid TV show, they just need to hire the right guys for the job. I'm expecting a Splatoon anime over a Metroid one though.

Nintendo should try and contact Studio Ghibli or Studio Ponoc if they're ever serious about making animated shows for their IPs. Although Miyazaki doesn't like games, so the answer to that one would probably be no.
