Well I wouldn't say terrible, inferior sure but pretty solid overall imo.

I think he is a bit overrated but he is definitely good with big budget action movies and I like to see 007 changing styles, Skyfall was a more dramatic take on James Bond by Sam Mendes and loved it, I have curiosity to see how a 007 made by Nolan would be.

I'm not a batman fan and because of that I'm biased towards enjoying the Dark Knight. But even then, The actual BATMAN really sucks. No real character, hardly any development. Just a bad portrayal of a character.
