Hmm, can we get some charts in here comparing it's yoy sales with last year, or the year before?

According to vgchartz it moved 8.6m in 2015, and 8.3m in 2016 with 2 million in sales so far this year, (although it's apparently slightly over-tracked). It seems to be tracking well against previous years, but the slow months of June-August are going to be very interesting to see how it maintains momentum, and then it's a little unpredictable around the holiday period, where it typically sells through around 50% of its yearly sales.

Very rough estimate- another 6.2 million this year, 7.4 million in 2018 and around 7m in 2019, with price cuts more first party games and Xbox One X, it should easily cross 50 million. However, can it cross 60 million? I think that's a much better question.

I think overall, given the disasterous reveal, hardware decisions and the lack of first party games, it's doing quite well. It bodes well for the brand. It's nowhere near the xbox360 levels of success and it won't match the lofty internal expectations of MS. Undoubtably they will see this entire generation as a missed opoorunity. That said, they will still have a strong foundation to build on heading in to the next generation, where I expect them to be far, far more competitive with Sony.
