One of my favorite games of all time.

And I've been waiting 20 years for them to release an actually decent follow up, free of dumbass, pointless slapped-on gimmicks. I'll probably be waiting another 20.

And sorry peeps, but no, Star Fox is supposed to be an "on rails" arcade type experience. That is the style of game that it is. That is what Star Fox fans want. The reason recent releases in the franchise haven't sold well, is because the games they make AREN'T Star Fox style. They always have some bullshit gimmick that Miyamoto and Co. think is a "neat idea", instead of just focusing on making a GOOD Star Fox game. You know, like the first two.

It's funny that Paper Mario fans will cry to the heavens about how the series NEEDS to be like the first two games, and everything else is garbage. Yet I'm willing to bet some of those same exact people, are people claiming "Star Fox shouldn't be on rails anymore". One of the worst ideas I ever saw, years ago, probably on this very site, was someone saying that Star Fox needed to "evolve" into something like Ratchet and Clank to "make money". No. Then it wouldn't be Star Fox. Anymore than Star Fox Adventures was Star Fox. That was literally Dinosaur Planet, with some last minute SF coat of paint slapped on. The reason SF games haven't sold, is because they aren't really Star Fox games. Either bad gimmicks, or bad controls, or whatever.

If Nintendo would just get a grip, and actually make a game LIKE Star Fox 64 again, no bullshit, no gimmicks or bad control concepts, just Star Fox? I'm willing to bet it would sell just fine, at least as well as SF64 did.
