This is such a strange complaint because unless you use an emulator, it's most likely the cheapest way you'll ever get old Nintendo games. For *Nintendo* it's a good deal but for most video game companies it's absolutely not. Don't certain retro titles go from 3 dollars to 5 dollars each on the Wii U Eshop? I'm pretty sure the portable games like GBA are like 3 and SNES are like 4? I haven't booted up my Wii U in a long time, but if we assume the price varies from 3-5$ per retro game, it's a good deal.
Honestly, we should be complaining about how Nintendo prices their old games anyways.
