OP has very illogical points, comparing SNES Mini with game collections is pointless because you don't get hardware with those game collections that plays those games. I dont see how point that some people will find SNES Mini harder makes SNES Mini "rip off".
About point why Nintendo axed NES Mini, they were very clear that from start NES Mini was intended to be just holiday item, and main point was to use it like market tool for Nintendo brand and Nintendo IPs, they also said that SNES Mini will also be holiday item.
