I wouldn't say Mario or Splatoon are "kid's games"; they're games for all ages, being kid-friendly doesn't stop adults enjoying them.

It's like saying Lego isn't for kids when it is.  I personally still really enjoy making Lego with my God son but it doesn't change the fact it's a kids game just because tons of adults enjoy it. 

 

Same for Nintendo.  They make games mostly targeted at kids.  Lots of people will never grow out of those games and keep playing as adults.  Nothing wrong with it either.
