I mean, I never said Miyamoto did this with Mario. I just find it weird he doesn't do it with Mario, but with other IPs he's heavily involved with.

My point still stands. Star Fox 64 and Zero are not remakes. They tell the same story (though each with a lot of new and different elements thrown in, as well as characters), but they have a different campaign with new stages, new bosses, new enemies, new music, new vehicles, new mechanics etc.

Story doesn't single-handedly determine if a game is or isn't a remake. To me at least, a remake means a game that is heavily rooted on the original, with most of the music, gameplay and level design remaining the same, only improved. Say, Majora's Mask 3D is a remake. Metroid: Zero Mission is a remake. Super Mario 64 DS is a remake. The Wind Waker HD is a remaster.

Star Fox 64 and Zero are new games.

I see, those are fair points. Even though they are retellings of the same story, they still have new content to offer, more so with Zero. I just wish at least Zero was a completely new game, rather than a much more revamped SF.
