So I have to buy the game, keep paying for it to keep playing so it keep being supported and if I want the major support that money leads them to make, I have to buy it as well on top of that? Yay! |
It'd be more accurate to say you buy a sequel every two years, and the subscription pays for the large content updates between those sequels, the game's general large budget size (the latest expansion had a larger budget than many new AAA games lol), and ensures a good general experience (e.g. them giving EU its own servers, their gradual shift to centralised worlds, etc).
I totally understand why it's not a model that appeals to you, especially if your game time is limited to specific days, but for those that enjoy what FF14 offers and want a consistent supply of that content at its best, it's amazing value for money.
