I can see your point but what happens if others follow this trend.
Imagine if all cell phones no longer come with charging wire/cube? Consoles stop being packaged with HDMI cables and controller charging wires? All in the hunch that they assume everyone has a ton of those wires lying around. I can assure you that I dont have enough micro USB cables.
Edit: Just been informed that it comes with a USB cable. If that's the case then that should be fine, at least it comes with a way to power it. But I didn't like how the new 3DS didnt come with a power adapter still :P
