Yes, I didn't mention shooting parts of the boss rather than going for time. Also, if you position yourself correctly, you can start shooting the fourth side of the StarBrain before it turns. I usually group my ships before the boss, weaken the middle while shooting each side, then let my ships go just as I destroy the fourth side. Thanks for the tip on the Carons. I'll have to find out how to do that with the "simple" controls.
