By the time Switch came out they'd already had more than 3 years to work on it. It could've taken the place of another 2017 title. But now that E3 2017 has come and gone with no word despite Kirby and Yoshi being shown, it's a distinct possibility that they simply don't have anything to show.

Like I wrote, we dont know how big their game is, this year is already very strong for Switch lineup, Nintendo could easily saving Retros game for next year even if its almost done, Nintendo even basically said that Mario Odyssey could be dont for Switch launch but they decided to be holiday season because Zelda BotW alone is very strong game. Like you wrote, DKTF was finished at end of 2013. so of course they working on same game/games from that time until now (it hard to imagine they didnt do nothing at all), only we dont know on what game/s that are working. Yoshi and Kirby are smaller games and they look like there will be released in 1st half of 2018. Retros game is probably much bigger and stronger game, so probably holiday 2018. game. Like I wrote, Retros game could easily be biggest new Switch announcement at E3 2018. and I am sure we will at least see their game in sometime in 2018. latest. My best guess is that Retros have two projects, one own and one co-developed, and I epxting that at least one will be released in 2018.

If they're saving it for next year then it would be far enough along to show it, and when you're trying to make your system's future look bright at an event like E3, it makes more sense to show a big game from one of your flagship studios than second tier stuff like Kirby and Yoshi. Unless of course, Retro's game is itself a second tier game. Their games have been getting less ambitious for a long time now.
