Contrary to popular belief you do NOT need a 4k TV to take advantage of games rendered at 4k.

1440P seems to be the sweet spot now as far as affordable tech for the resolution is concerned, even mid-range graphics hardware like the Radeon RX 580 and Geforce 1060 slay that resolution.
