The core gameplay of RL is strong and timeless and it also helps that there is zero competition in that genre. And as I said in my other post, there is nothing a sequel could provide that DLC to the current game can't.

RL is 2 years old and still gets over 200k concurrent users regularly. And that is despite nobody talking about it. This will go on for quite some time until a competitor steps up.

Everything gets stale. Eventually, people will leave and they'll either have to make a new game or do something else.
