It's fun but the god powers and myth units do change the gameplay a fair bit, especially as they can take up multiple points on your population limit.
The biggest change though was probably the fact that town centers/settlements have to be built on a set site, so if you want to expand you have to find a settlement site and get to it before the enemy. It adds an extra strategic element to expansion and population growth that wasn't in AoE2.
