Yeah, it's an option. Kinda like how Some developers sold PS3/PS4/Vita copies of the game all together in one package, but some chose to sell all of those copies seperately.  If developers choose to sell the copies seperately, you'll still happily buy to copies.

I have a 720p portable version of MK8D and a 1080p home version and you think I'll buy an extra 540p portable version for my new non-Switch portable? Lol, why?

Your whole argument is Nintendo fans are dumb enough to buy the 'same' game multiple times, therefore greedy Nintendo should take advantage of this by making a non-switch portable. Now you're talking about combo packs where you get both versions which nullifies your own dumb argument.

Do(did) you also own a 1080p home version for your Wii U? I bet you did! Imagine what that means.... hmm... it's like you bought multiple copies of the same game. But that's besides the point. I said that knowing their hardcore userbase will buy multiple copies of the same game was one of many reasons why Nintendo might do it. It's certainly not the only reason, nor the main reason to make a 3DS successor, and I've never said it was. But let's keep the straw man train rolling! Choo Choo!

Soundwave, I wish this thread just was everyone arguing against me. this whole thread is essentially everyone arguing against things they either thought I said but never, or arguing against hyperbolic versions of my arguments they've created in their minds. 80% of the things people claim I said in this thread has never been said by me.
