We all know that until next year there will be plenty of new games for the 3ds, but mainly games which production started this year. Japanese Devs and Nintendo are not ignoring the huge install base the 3ds still has
After 2018, we probably won´t see new games for it with the possible exception of some indie games. It´s clear that, from now on, Nintendo will focus on the Switch, since it can be used as a portable console too. I expect most of the great 3ds franchises (Layton, Ace Attorney, Etrian Odyssey, Yokai Watch etc etc) to have new games for the Switch soon.
