Actually, the Chairman of Kanto IT (the company that denied Kojima Productions health insurance) is also a board member at Konami, so yes, they hae been pulling strings.
And it doesn't stop there: he's not actually supposed to have the final say on the matter. According to Kanto's policy, applications are held to a vote of the board members:
So not only have they been denying KP health coverage just for the sake of being assholes, but they've been skirting standard procedure to do it. Fuck Konami, I hope they go belly up.
